It's effectiveness of silencing piston impact is questionable at best although it does have a rubber bumper on both the cylinder and piston head so it is slightly better than a flat piston head although still not as good as a sorbo pad due to their much softer material of the sorbo pads. As of yet I haven't seen any side by side
