"P" stands for "Plus", immediately followed by the millimetres needed to elevate the caliper to your chosen rotor size. If you have a fork with 180mm post mounts, like a FOX 36, and you would like to run a 203 mm rotor, you will need to lift the caliper by 23 mm. For this you would need the P23 adapter.
