Description
short and clipped finish where the supporting tannins are tough to the point of being borderline hard
Strong reduction obliterates the nose though there is plenty of vibrancy and life to the mineral-driven
intense and rich medium-bodied flavors are supported by bright acidity on the ever-so-slightly lean but highly persistent finish where the sense of minerality really builds as it sits on the palate
Consistent with the nose the middle weight and even more intensely mineral-driven flavors are restrained and chiseled while displaying first-rate persistence on the bitter chocolate-inflected finish
Rothschild & Concha Y Toro, Almaviva Vintage:2014 short and clipped finish whereHere are the markers of Maipo in a cooler vintage (90% of grapes were harvested in May) still rich and exotic with gentle spice, brambly blackberry fruits, toasted coffee beans, but balanced by a sense of elegance and lift with liquorice root notes. It's not as intense as the bigger vintages but is beautifully precise, making it great for drinking over the next few years. Includes a touch of Petit Verdot for the first time.
