cherry pit
A brooding and very reserved but highly complex nose features notes of dried flowers
The 2008s show a work in progress as Conterno only had control of the vineyard for a few months that year
I would not mark it down as a top tier Petrus
Bouchard Pere et Fils, Corton Rouge Vintage:2001 cherry pitLike several of the wines in the range, this lacks a bit of aromatic freshness on the red currant, sauvage and wood suffused nose. The rich, supple and round middle weight flavors are surprisingly forward compared to how this wine is typically structured, all wrapped in an acceptably lingering finish. While perfectly OK, I found this to be somewhat disappointing relative to its usual quality as its often one of Bouchards best wines. (89 92) 2027+
